Since 1995 Elixir have been manufacturing their coated strings. Since then, they have continued to refine and advance their process ensuring they offer the best coated strings on the market.
Elixir offer three flavours of coating, Polyweb, Nanoweb and Optiweb. Both Polyweb and Nanoweb coatings fundamentally serve the same purpose: a thin coating that protects the string from dirt, corrosion and skin oils and prevents them from getting in between the string windings. Though the purpose is the same, Polyweb and Nanoweb both provide different tones, Polyweb are warm and feel slick to play while Nanoweb are brighter strings with a thinner, less noticeable coating.
Finally, there’s the newest addition to the Elixir lineup in Optiweb. Optiweb was developed to feel like a traditional uncoated string for players who want the protective benefits of Elixir coating without it affecting how the strings feel and play.
