QSC (which originally stood for Quilter Sound Company) was founded by audio tech pioneer Patrick Howe Quilter back in 1968. An entrepreneurial engineering student, he designed and constructed the first QSC amp for the bass guitarist in his brother's band. The standard of craftsmanship and technological mastery exhibited in this amp led to a huge amount of demand, prompting Quilter to drop out of school and start the company.
Quilter built QSC into a prominent manufacturer of pro-audio products, moving the focus away from the guitar amplifier field to focus on power amplification, and then network controlled systems (since retiring from QSC, he has since relaunched the extremely successful Quilter Amps company, returning to his first love and creating brilliant analogue guitar amplifiers).
