Squier was established in the early ‘80s by Fender themselves. Fender was losing sales due to the explosion of Japanese companies essentially ripping off their designs and flooding the market with cheap knock-off versions of their guitars. To beat them, they joined them. Fender created a new “sister” company and began to manufacture cheaper versions of their own designs under the Squier banner, and as these guitars had official Fender endorsement, they soon became preferable to the “dodgy” copies available at the same price.

Squier’s official association with Fender has seen the company grow in popularity among entry-level plates especially, with beginners benefiting from their affordable “budget” guitars and bass guitars that still live up to Fender’s quality control.

Choose from Squier’s Classic Vibe range of vintage Fender designs that stick to the traditional specs of the original ‘50s and ‘60s models, or if you prefer a more modern style, perhaps the Squier’s Vintage Modified range of suped-up, modified Fender guitars will tickle your fancy. Or choose one of their great Affinity series starter packs that not only include a guitar but also come with an amp, strap, cable, spare strings and picks - a real bargain.

Whatever you decide, one thing’s for sure - if you’re a novice looking for a reliable, affordable guitar built upon the legacy of one of the biggest and best guitar makers in the world, a Squier is a perfect guitar for you.
