This DW Collectors Pure Maple 22” 5-Piece Drum Shell Pack is a magnificent set of drums that has been very tastefully customised by the master craftsmen in DW’s custom shop. These immaculate shells generate an impressive tone with a prominent bottom end and a vibrant attack - very lush indeed.

Each shell is crafted from 100% Maple and utilises different DW shell manufacturing techniques to create its custom sound. Maple is a very popular tonewood for drums thanks to its full resonance, powerful projection and attack - and matched with DW’s reinforced TrueHoops, produces a focused sound well suited to both stage and studio.

When their ply layers are selected, Collector’s series shells are subject to DW’s specialised grain orientation optimisation process. The orientation of the grain direction of each ply layer within a shell's construction makes a huge difference to the drum’s final sonic composition. By meticulous analysis and experimentation, DW has perfected the art of using different orientation combinations to create exact timbres, resulting in extremely well-matched sets of shells with a cohesive sound. 

Both rack toms have a VLT grain configuration, with each ply running vertically to reduce shell tension and unlock its low end. The 14 and 16” floor toms have a Maple X and a Maple VLX construction respectively, and the bass drum features a VLX+ orientation that ensures a massive, full-bodied sound with great tonal depth and a mighty thump. This timbre-matching process ensures that the different shell constructions all work in perfect harmony with each other for a perfectly balanced overall sound. This kit has a deep, warm tone with a clean attack.

DW has put just as much love into the look of this kit as it has in creating its sound. These shells wear a beautiful Lavender Satin Oil finish that shows off the grain of the Maple while adding a sultry, smokey surface finish - and the matching finish bass drum hoops are the icing on the cake.
