Gibson ES-335 Electric Guitar - Vintage Burst
The guitar that set the standard of every semi-hollow body that followed.
The ES-335 is a beautiful semi-hollow guitar widely considered as the ultimate Thinline archtop. Seeped in the charm and style of its heyday - the late ‘50s/ early ‘60s, this guitar shines in the hands of blues, jazz and of course, rock and roll players. Its stunning sound and impeccable playability have made it a legend and this version of the model is set to build upon that legacy.
Expertly crafted from a hybrid 3-ply combo of Maple/Poplar/Maple, the ES-335’s body is perfectly designed and shaped to produce big open tones with a bright top end. A solid Maple centre block and a premium Mahogany neck complete the harmonious blend of tonewoods that generate the guitars lush fundamental tone. The 335 was one of the first guitars to feature a centre block and made quite a stir on its debut - this was a guitar with a consistency of tone like never before that could be cranked up without generating crazy feedback and noise.
A rounded C neck profile provides a substantial, comfortable “weight” to the neck that fills your hand without feeling cumbersome. It's just right for allowing your hands to travel up and down the frets with ease. The frets have been subject to the astounding Plek Pro process; an innovative system that assesses each fret individually to ascertain the way it should be angled on the fingerboard to achieve the best possible performance. Each fret is then levelled accordingly for optimum action without buzz or choke and with the best possible transfer of vibration. Typically reserved for top-dollar custom guitars, the Plek Pro process will provide you with the most playable fretboard you’re ever likely to own. The fingerboard is crafted from Rosewood, bound with rolled edges and buffed to smooth perfection. All in all, the ES-335’s neck/fingerboard combo is an absolute sensation.
Superior playability isn't this ES-335’s only forte - it is equally gifted with an unrivalled tone. Gibson has equipped it with two of their Calibrated T-Type humbucking pickups supported by their stable and efficient hand-wired control assembly. Each pickup comes with its own tone and volume controls, giving you the option to dial in a huge amount of sounds from a wide tonal range, from chiming country spangle to blitzing high-gain rawk’n’roll. Simply switch between pickups to jump from warm hollow-body sounds to more solid-body-style tonal tightness.
The Gibson ES-335 also features Vintage Deluxe tuners with Keystone buttons, a lightweight aluminium ABR-1 bridge and Stopbar tailpiece and comes with a hardshell case and a Gibson Accessory Kit.
