The new Les Paul Standard is packed full of premium features that follow the original ‘50s design that inspired generation after generation of guitarists and generated sound that has formed the foundation for innumerable hits. Its body is crafted from solid Mahogany and sports an attractive carved Maple top, which is married to an authentic 50’s-style Mahogany neck with a Rosewood fingerboard. This tonewood combo produces all of the Les Paul’s signature warmth and full-bodied richness. 

This well-balanced, substantially weighted guitar sits comfortably in the hands of the player and allows them free reign to explore the smooth action of the period style neck. Its Rosewood fingerboard is a delight to play and features 22 medium-jumbo Plek’d frets. The Plek fret-levelling process is a fantastic high-end optimisation technique that assesses and tailors each fret for the best possible action.

The look and feel of the period are captured perfectly by the addition of a ‘Nitro’ lacquer finish. Nitrocellulose is thinner than the standard polyurethane finishes that many modern guitars wear, and allows it to breath and resonate with less choke. 

Gibson has equipped the Les Paul Standard ‘50s with a duo of their brilliant Burstbucker pickups. These humbucking pickups feature Alnico II magnets and mismatched coils, resulting in a soft, full-bodied tone supported by the infamous Les Paul crunch. Audio taper potentiometers provide smooth and even volume and tone transitions, and orange drop capacitors provide a high level of frequency control without loss.

A full complement of vintage-style hardware completes the authentic vibe of the Les Paul Standard ‘50s. An ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, aluminium stop bar tailpiece, vintage deluxe tuners with keystone buttons and amber top-hat knobs all contribute to the classy quality of this fine guitar. A hardshell case and Gibson Accessory Kit is included.
