Gibson Les Paul Studio - Smokehouse Burst

The Gibson Les Paul Studio was a product of ‘80s design - an era of great recording studio innovations, when sound production was finally and rightly becoming a recognisable art instead of an unsung one. Gibson astutely recognised the potential of a ‘studio’ Les Paul, a version that would be affordable and accessible to more studio sessions artists, meaning that the inimitable Gibson tone would be used and heard on more and more amazing records. Of course, the lower cost could be offset by reducing cosmetic luxuries, and so the Les Paul Studio was born - a classic Les Paul packed to the brim with amazing Gibson tone and featuring a high level of playability, but leaves the decadent looks to its upscale models. Little did Gibson know, but this guitar would prove to be hugely popular with both recording artists and live performers alike.

This modern iteration of the Les Paul Studio fuses the ‘80s models high level of functionality with some modern appointments, resulting in a guitar with all of the classic tone and a premium playability.

The Maple-topped Mahogany body has been slimmed down and benefits from Gibsons ultra-modern weight relief system, where cavities are carefully placed to bring the overall weight of the body down without creating any loss of tone or resonance. Being lighter means that you will enjoy playing this guitar all the more - your back will thank you later.

The body is complemented by a slim taper Mahogany neck and capped with a Rosewood fingerboard, both of which are smooth, sleek and super comfortable in hand. These components have then been finished with a protective layer of Gloss Nitrocellulose Lacquer, a time-tested classic Gibson feature that allows the wood to breathe and resonate to its full potential. The fingerboard action also benefits from having been fitted with Plek-pro optimised frets. This state of the art process does a fantastic job of grading and levelling each individual fret to its ideal position, perfectly balancing the performance of each individual note played along it.

This guitars fantastic tonal diversity is captured by a set of two coil-tapped 490R/490T humbucking pickups that share the ability to effectively separate and shut off one of their coils, which gives you options to choose between refined, noiseless humbucking tones and raw, sweet single coil tones. This feature is controlled by handy push pull volume pots, and provides a huge choice of sonic combinations.
