Gibson SG Standard Tribute In Natural Walnut

The Gibson SG Standard Tribute pays homage to what is considered the ultimate rock guitar. Having been in constant circulation since its 1961 release, it's really no surprise that the Standard is Gibson's best-selling model of all time, and this tribute does an amazing job of replicating the qualities of the original legendary axe.

This SG Standard Tribute comes fully equipped with solid features that lovingly recreate the rocking tone and infamous playability that has produced some of the most iconic rock and roll performances in history. Built from a lightweight Mahogany slab, its body features the revered SG ‘double-horned’ shape and its ability to produce controlled harmonic feedback is a brilliant feature that helps to make this the ideal rock guitar. 

A sleek Rosewood fretboard sits atop of a round profile Maple neck, and features 22 medium jumbo frets that are easily accessible beyond the 12th thanks to the body's cutaway heel. These frets have been optimised using Plek Pro’s brilliant fret levelling technology, a process that precisely grades and levels each individual fret to ensure that any buzz is eliminated and every note cuts through with maximum clarity.

This guitar's rich tonewood combo is well protected and cosmetically enhanced by a layer of Satin Nitrocellulose Lacquer that gives the Natural Walnut stain a really rather tasty vintage appeal, and allows the wood to breathe and flourish.

This SG Standard Tribute brandishes a pair of 490 humbuckers that produce a monstrous tone that only Gibson could tame and focus. Gibson have accurately re-voiced these pickups to produce the incendiary PAF humbucking tone of the original, but have pushed the upper mids a little to hone the sound for contemporary amplification. These pickups do an amazing job of translating the SG’s classic tone and producing a brilliant variety of sounds from full-bodied jangle, to bowel-movement-inducing growls, to biting, bone splitting crunch - but whatever the sound you prefer, it will be the brilliant, instantly recognisable and unmistakable sound of a Gibson SG.
