What's even more amazing is that in those 90 years, the Black Beauty’s design has essentially remained the same except for a few minor tweaks, and this latest tweak is a direct response to the demand of Ludwig fans around the world.

This 8-lug version of the Black Beauty will excite lovers of the vintage drum sound. The 10-lug version of this drum has a more modern flavour thanks to its increased tension spread that increases focus and reduces overtones. In contrast, this 8-lug BB has a distinctly more open sound that emphasises the snare response rather than the snap of the shell. This results in a very sensitive drum with a vintage sound that delivers an articulate, nuanced performance.

The Black Beauty’s seamless beaded brass shell’s signature Black Nickel finish is complemented by gleaming triple-flanged hoops. Imperial lugs enhance the drums vintage look and all tension rods are fitted with double washers for a better class of consistency that will hold for longer even when you're going all out and putting this Beauty through its paces.
