If you are looking for an intense, dark tone with a rapid response and falloff, then the The Byzance Extra Dry 16” Medium Thin Hats are probably for you - they offer a sumptuous dark tone and a wash so dry it evaporates almost instantly. It’s somewhat of a niche sound, but it’s a really good niche sound - the kind you never knew you wanted until you heard it.

The Byzance Extra Dry Hi-Hats possess a raw, earthy character that cuts through the initial dry sharpness and leaves you wondering what you just heard. We absolutely love how direct and powerful these hats sound.

The first thing you will probably notice is that the cymbals are ‘unfinished’ in a raw style - no lathing has taken place and so they look as they did straight out of the forge - a pleasing, naturally-pitted burned alloy with a warm, rich colour. Individually, they offer a dry, rich sound with a highly musical voice, but together these cymbals work against each other and the result is somewhat special.

The heavy bottom emits a chunky stick ‘chick’ and the lightweight top offers a dry, dark response and a super-rapid decay, and combined we have a set of hats that are all about the dark, powerful attack.
