Meinl Byzance Jazz Thin 15” Hi Hat Cymbals - Traditional Finish

The Meinl Byzance Jazz 15” Thins are an extremely popular choice of hi-hat among top-level performers and sessions players due to their smooth, easy playability and sweet musical tones. Although they are dark and slightly dry in nature, these hi-hats possess some amazing complementary tones.

The Byzance Jazz Thin hi-hats are lightweight and as such they open up to full tones at lower volumes - ideal for small venues or intimate performances. This concept has been elaborated upon by Meinl’s cymbalsmiths; the top cymbal has been fully lathed and very mildly hand-hammered for a subtle hint of dry tones, but maintains an overall warm wash. Alternatively, the bottom cymbal is entirely unlathed with a heavily hand-hammered finish which fully enhances its dark, dry features. This combination of the two qualities results in a much softer curve between an open and closed position, eliminating harsh sounding transitions and allowing for some sweet sounding hat riding.
