Meinl Byzance Vintage Sand 14” Hi Hat Cymbals - Sandblasted Finish

Meinl’s Byzance Vintage 14” Sand Hat’s are deliciously dark and dry, with an unusual yet appealing low-pitched, laid-back sound. Although dark and dry, they are also graced with a fine degree of clarity and poised attack, so they are never in danger of sounding sludgy or tired. These hi-hats have the perfect amount of brightness and energy to give them a positive, confident presence.

The B20 bronze alloy has been treated to a sandblasted finish, a process that lightly strips the surface area to a dull, fine-textured finish. This process also makes removes some of the tension out of the cymbal - just enough to make it slightly more flexible - which opens up its full-bodied sound at lower volumes. This makes sandblasted cymbals perfect for low-volume settings, as they are capable of full open response and quick decay at low volume, whilst maintaining full tonal and musical properties.

Finally, the Byzance Vintage 14” Sand Hats possess enhanced stick definition due in part to the contrasting weights of the cymbals - the combination of lightweight top and mid - heavy bottom result in a defined stick attack with an underlying dry sizzle.
