Meinl Byzance Vintage Sand 18" Thin Crash Cymbal - Sandblasted Finish

Developed in collaboration with the one and only Benny Greb, the Meinl Byzance Vintage 18" Thin Sand Crash Cymbal is a wonderfully unique cymbal which is dark in character, holds a vintage voice and is even pitch matched to create an incredible sound.

Hand hammered, as are all the Byzance cymbals, this is built to perfection, and each cymbal is of course unique. A sandblasted finish gives this cymbal an outstanding amount of warmth and dryness. Despite the thin weight and 18” size, the sandblasted finish helps dampen the sustain, which means that the tone moves more towards a trashy sound. What is outstanding is that while this cymbal comes from the Byzance Vintage series, and is a thin, dry sounding crash, it can deliver at higher velocity a modern white noise character which is so at home in electronic and pop music. However, at lower velocities, it maintains the smooth vintage character, perfect for jazz and fusion. This lends it particularly well for session players, therefore, you need a useful set of cymbals that are confident in all kinds of genres.
