Roland VAD-307 V-Drums Acoustic Design Hybrid Drum Kit

The V-Drums Acoustic Design series (VAD) is as close to achieving acoustic authenticity as we’ve ever seen, and the brand new VAD-307 kit is breaking new ground. It features a new TD-17 V2.0 module, new thinner-profile cymbal pads and upgraded hardware, offering players a huge amount of versatility whilst remaining as true to a traditional kit’s feel and response.

The high-performance standard of the VAD-307 is ideal for the stage and having a similar footprint to a mid-level V-drums kit makes it a suitable kit for home use too. Its stylish, classic black and chrome aesthetic will definitely suit the majority of living spaces, and while this kit has a compact frame, it still allows its components to be well spread out to promote a natural playing technique.

The VAD-307 is built around the amazing all-new TD-17 2.0 sound module developed for the Roland TD-17 e-drums range. This brain is a powerful piece of kit loaded with a plethora of dynamic, natural-sounding voices, an array of brand-new kits and expanded effects such as adjustable reverb and compression. An additional input provides future expansion possibilities, while Bluetooth capability allows you to connect wirelessly to your smartphone for easy audio streaming, enabling you to play along to all of your favourite tracks. This module also offers a variety of practice aids and warm-up modes to help keep you inspired and guide you on your learning/practice journey. 

In addition to the comprehensive onboard library of sounds, kits and effects the TD-17 V2.0 module has to offer, there is a whole load more to be explored via the Roland Cloud. This online resource contains untold sounds, samples, and artist kits -  which you will gain access to when you register your new VAD-307 with Roland.

The VAD-307’s hybrid shells and ultra-responsive cymbal pads have been designed to match the outstanding high quality of the new TD-17 v2.0 module. Each drum shell is crafted from wood, wrapped in classic gloss black and fitted with custom chrome hardware that allows you to adjust their double-mesh heads’ tension to suit your preference.

The PDA120LS 12” Snare features independent head and rim triggers specially designed to help eliminate hot spots for a more consistent, enhanced response. It has also been designed to be mounted on a traditional snare stand for a more authentic feel and better positioning options than if it were rack-mounted. Both the 10” PDA100L rack toms and 12” PDA120L floor tom pads have the same dual-triggered design but are bracketed for rack-mounting.

The KD-180L-BK Bass Drum is a fantastic piece of tech that blurs the line between analogue and digital. It features a compact, shallow-depth wood shell and an innovative pad sensor built into its head. Unlike many other triggered drums, this bass drum harnesses the principles that a traditional acoustic one works upon; rather than just sensing the strike impact, this sensor also picks up on the vented air pressure inside the shell, resulting in a very authentic pedal feel and extremely accurate digital sound reproduction.

The crash and ride cymbals - CY-12C-T and CY-14R-T respectively - have new, thinner profiles that help them to respond and move more like a traditional cymbal than ever before. The ride is also a little larger than the ride that came as standard with the VAD-306, helping to achieve a more natural weight and feel. A 12” VH-10 V-Hi-Hat provides great accuracy and by being mounted on a traditional hi-hat stand (sold separately), swings with a natural motion and superior open/closed detection.

Lastly, the VAD-307 comes with 3 heavy-duty double-braced cymbal/tom stands and an APC-30 Clamp suitable for mounting the module to your hi-hat stand.
