We’ve seen many Tama Starclassic Birch/Walnut 22” 3-piece Drum Shell Packs in our time and are always astounded by the consistency of their quality. These hybrid shells feature a refined blend of Walnut and Birch ply with the perfect ratio to yield a refined, focused sound with a warm, rich swell.

These shells begin life as two inner plies of American Black Walnut with 4 outer plies of Birch, with the bass drum subject to an extra Birch layer to increase and balance its sweet, sparkling attack and immense, punchy boom. The overall sound of the kit is well-balanced with good, focused projection, a deep, rich tone, awesome power and a confident, cutting attack.

This Starclassic is a pro-level kit designed and built to an extremely high standard. In addition to its flawless looks and delicious sound, this kit is extremely functional and practical too. Innovative Quick Lock tom brackets make setting up and packing down for a gig quicker and easier than ever. Essentially a bracket and memory lock in one, the Quick Lock bracket features a simple slide switch that, once you are set up and have found the preferred placement of your drums, splits the bracket into two components, leaving a memory lock portion on the tom stand. The next time you set up, your tom will slip easily into the precise place you had them last time you played. These brackets also reduce vibration transference and allow the drums to resonate to their maximum potential. The bass drum features claw hooks with rubber spacers to ensure a rattle-free performance and air-cushioned floor tom legs prevent premature decay. This kind of attention to detail and pro-quality is seen throughout every aspect of the kit.
