Aluminium is the ideal choice of snare drum material for those who would a bright, loud and open snare sound. With a frequency curve that increases toward the high end, this snare can seriously cut through any mix, no matter what the setting. With a very clear attack, and great response even at lower dynamics, followed by complex overtones in the sustain and decay, this is a very sophisticated sounding snare.

Tama have very carefully designed this snare, and this is clear throughout. The lugs, for example, are designed in such a way that when the tension rod is loosened enough, you are able to tilt the claw hook away from the shell rather than remove the hook and tuning rod completely, saving you lots of time when changing heads. This same useful feature is replicated in the detachable butt plate, allowing you to replace the snare-side head quickly while maintaining the snare tension you have already dialled in. The strainer is also cleverly designed. Whereas many strainers inadvertently speed up the movement of the snare wires nearer the end of the movement when flicking the snares on, this strainer is “Linear-Drive”, which means you have more control over the snares for silent performance. No risk of making unnecessary noise during quiet sections. This level of quality remains throughout the snare drum.
