The Yamaha FSX820C is a folk shaped guitar with a few standout features that set it apart from other guitars in the price range. Folk guitars have a smaller and thinner body compared to other models, which makes them much less 'boomy' and overpowering, and because of this they are top choices for unplugged vocal performances. It feels remarkably comfortable under the hands giving it great playability.
However, some players do find that they are a bit underwhelmed by the overall output of folk guitars, in terms of volume output but that's where this guitar is different. The Yamaha FSX820C features a solid spruce top with mahogany back and sides, giving it a very desirable yet classic tone, but it's the internal structure that's particularly unique and make it a guitar for all applications.
A newly updated scalloped bracing pattern which sets it apart from any previous models or other brands. This bracing allows for greater structural integrity, but with more volume and projection, plus an increase in the low end and a bigger tone overall so it sounds huge and musical.
Fitted with an SRT Piezo pickup which is designed to use the individual elements for each of the strings to produce an ultra-clear and ultra-wide bandwidth signal to deliver an excellent dynamic response as well as possessing exceptional tonal accuracy.
Combined with the SYSTEM 66 pre amp that possesses a 3-band EQ, mid FQ, volume control and inbuilt tuner, the Yamaha’s electronics enhances the FSX820C capabilities to the max. Last but not least, another cool feature is that the FGX Series now runs using 2 x AA batteries (rather than the traditional 9v).
