The precursor to the modern-aged steel-string acoustic guitar, the classical or “Spanish” guitar’s soothing mellow sounds are best served by nylon strings that replicate the low-tension response of traditional catgut-strings.
Thicker-gauge nylon strings with a higher tension pose more resistance for the hands, but will be louder, and when it comes to tone, will produce a brighter sound than their lighter counterparts.
