Beginning life over 140 years ago Epiphone is one of the oldest guitar manufacturers still around today. Epiphone started out making traditional instruments such as fiddles, they then expanded into manufacturing banjos. It wasn’t until the late 1920’s that Epiphone started producing guitars.
After being acquired by Gibson, Epiphone began making guitars that took a lot of inspiration from their big brother. Hollowbody guitars such as the Sheraton borrowed heavily from the Gibson 335 for example.
Nowadays, alongside their own models such as the Casino, Swingster and the aforementioned Sheraton, Epiphone is probably best known for their range of affordable versions of Gibson guitars. Being produced in China allows Epiphone to keep costs lower while still manufacturing to a high standard.
Whether it’s an Electric, Acoustic, Hollowbody or Bass guitar that you’re looking for Epiphone’s value is hard to beat.
