Founded by Sidney N. Shure in pre-depression Chicago, the company that would go on to be global leaders in their field was originally a one-man operation manufacturing and selling radio components. Within three years, the Shure company was a considerable force, managing to survive the great depression by turning their focus to microphone production, a move that also made them invaluable to the war effort.

The post-war years saw Shure begin to dominate the microphone and audio accessory market and a long list of world firsts cemented their place in history. The introduction of the SM57 and SM58 changed the game and are to this day the industries go-to mic for live vocals and instrument mic-ing.
