Ride cymbals are primarily used for the same purpose as hi-hat cymbals - to act as a steady timekeeper around which rhythms are woven - but when you ‘ride’ the cymbal with a steady, continuous beat it offers an alternative range of dynamic options.

Usually the largest and heaviest cymbal in a player's setup, the ride cymbal’s larger surface area is paramount to its wide variety of sound options. Their larger bells provide a defined, loud ‘ding’, and their bow generates a wide variety of slightly softer ‘pings’ with a wash that increases in body as you play further towards the cymbals edge.

If you want maximum value for money, take a look at our crash/ride cymbals which function as both. They may be more dynamically limiting than a separate, dedicated crash and ride, but they still do a great job.
