About Delivery

From the moment the Gibson Explorer first debuted in 1958, it became clear that its pointed, angular shapes and crunchy Gibson growl were going to be popular with players of heavier genres, but it was an instrument ahead of its time. It truly came into its own a decade or two later when mainstream music caught up with the Explorer's unique style and it became synonymous with a burgeoning multivariate collective of music - good old hard rock. And its appeal hasn’t stopped growing since.

This latest iteration of the Explorer encapsulates all of the hot retro-style of the ‘50s original. True to the early design, it features a striking, angular ‘reverse’ style body and angled “hockey stick” headstock, a truly unique, ‘edgy’ look. The Explorer’s super-resonant solid Mahogany body and ultra-smooth rosewood-topped Slim Taper Mahogany neck produce rich, warm tones with great midrange character, and possess a fantastic sustain. This great combination of well-balanced tonewoods is finished with period correct Nitro lacquer that allows the wood to breathe and perform to its fullest, reducing any choke to its natural resonance.

This Explorer does an exemplary job of reproducing the PAF humbucker qualities that possesses when it was originally released. Gibson have imbued the classic time-tested tone into their twin Burstbucker pickups; two humbucking monsters that deliver a punchy low end, an intricate midrange, and bright musical highs that are perfect for a vast array of rock. Also, Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners and a Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge with Stopbar tailpiece provide rock-solid intonation whilst maintaining the cool ‘50s kitsch style of this guitar.

Last but not in the very least, Gibson have utilised Plek Pro tech  to ensure their latest models deliver the best possible performance. A procedure reserved for high-end guitars such as this one, Plek Pro’s amazing technology optimally levels each individual fret on the board, resulting in uber-comfortable playability and the considerable reduction of any fret-buzz or intonation issues.

The ideal guitar for hard-rockers and fast-rollers, the Gibson Explorer is a nigh-on inimitable, sonically diverse guitar, built to last and born to rock.
