Gibson Les Paul Standard '50s - Heritage Cherry Sunburst

Packed full of premium features, the new Les Paul Standard recreates the classic ‘50s design that took the guitar-playing world by storm, defining an inimitable sound that has conquered multiple musical genres for generations. 

This Standard 50’s model is constructed of a solid mahogany body and an attractive carved Maple top, balanced with an authentic 50’s-style mahogany neck capped with a rosewood fingerboard. This combination results in a well-balanced, substantially weighted guitar that sits comfortably and allows the player the freedom to explore the smooth action of the period style neck. The Rosewood fingerboard is an absolute delight to play - smooth and intuitive - and features 22 medium-jumbo frets that have been optimised using Plek Pro’s state of the art fret-levelling technology for a tailored action. 

To complete the look and feel of the period, Gibson have given the Les Paul Standard ’50s a ‘Nitro’ nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The Nitro finish is thinner than today’s standard polyurethane finishes which not only supports the authentic vibe of this guitar, but also allows it to breath and resonate with less choke. 

The much-loved sound of the Les Paul Standard has been lovingly and expertly recreated using vintage style appointments that hold up to todays standards. To create these classic tones, Gibson have installed their brilliant Burstbucker pickups - humbucking pickups with Alnico II magnets and mis-matched coils that produce a full-bodied, soft and sweet tone, underpinned by the infamous Les Paul crunch. They have also included audio taper potentiometers to provide smooth and even volume and tone transitions, and orange drop capacitors that provide the highest level of frequency control without loss.

The authentic vibe of the Les Paul Standard ‘50s is completed by its vintage-style hardware. It carries a  ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, an aluminium stop bar tailpiece, vintage deluxe tuners with keystone buttons, and amber top hat knobs, all of which add a level of je ne sais quoi that can only be attributed to a Gibson Les Paul.
