Gibson Les Paul Standard '60s - Bourbon Burst

Packed to the hilt with high-end features, the Les Paul Standard ‘60s pays loving homage to the quintessential ‘60s model that enhanced the groundbreaking playability of the Standard 50’s model and added some extra snarl to the inimitable sound that was fast becoming a world-famous archetype.

The all new Les Paul Standard ‘60s model recreates the defining features of its 1960’s originator with a tasteful selection of vintage style apointments. The outcome is a guitar with beautiful tone, classic aesthetic charm and period-correct playability. 

This Les Paul’s infamous single cut-away, solid mahogany body is complemented by a carved Maple top and balanced with a mahogany neck topped with a sleek Rosewood fingerboard. This well-balanced combination of elements results in a substantial yet comfortable physical presence that allows the player the freedom to explore the smooth action of the asymmetrical slim tapered neck - designed to ease tension and reduce stress on the hand. The smooth and intuitive Rosewood fingerboard features no less than 22 medium-jumbo frets, each having been optimally levelled using Plek Pro’s amazing technology.

The ‘60s aesthetic would not be complete without Gibson’s ‘Nitro’ nitrocellulose lacquer finish; thinner than today’s usual polyurethane finishes, this classic Nitro lacquer enhances the guitars authentic look whilst allowing it to breathe and resonate to its fullest.

Looks aside, we come to the tone of this Les Paul Standard which has been brilliantly captured and recreated using modern appointments that hold up to todays standards. Under the bonnet you will find two of Gibson’s brilliant Burstbuckers. A 61R in the neck position and a 61T in the bridge position. These humbucking pickups with unmatched coils produce a full-bodied, soft and sweet tone, buttressed by the infamous Les Paul crunch and capable of more aggression than the standard Burstbuckers. Audio taper potentiometers have been included to provide a smooth, even volume and tone transition and orange drop capacitors provide a great level of frequency control without loss of gain.

Gibson have completed this Les Paul Standard ‘60s guitar with vintage-style hardware such as an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, an aluminium stop bar tailpiece and Grover Rotomatic tuners that add the perfect touch of vintage class and level of high quality that can only be attributed to a Gibson Les Paul.
