About DeliveryThis Meinl Byzance 21" Transition Ride Cymbal, designed in collaboration with American drummer Mike Johnston, is very aptly named. Named after the effortless transition between articulate sticking and full and open crashing, this cymbal maintains stick definition right throughout, and is a highly versatile ride, particularly for jazz, funk, RnB and electro.
This Meinl Byzance 21" Transition Ride Cymbal has a truly striking look with its raw, unlathed finish, and this has an excellent effect on the overriding tone of the cymbal. The timbre is dark, as much of the Byzance Extra Dry range, with a low pitch and dry voice, and also holds a short sustain which enhances the already impressive stick definition. Every articulation is given the focus it deserves, and this remains the case right through to wide, open crashing, which is particularly great for players who ghost a lot. The bell, while brighter and equally well defined, is not overpowering and is perfect to add in extra flavours into your playing to add a whole new sonic dimension.
