The Meinl Byzance Extra Dry 16” Dual Crash is a unique cymbal that will make a great addition to your kit and offer you the opportunity to explore a different and very interesting sonic palette.

Hand-crafted by Turkish artisans from Bronze B20 Alloy, Meinl’s Byzance cymbals possess a unique, distinctive sound that is pushed even further by the Extra Dry dual-textured playing surface. The cymbals surface is divided into two rings; the inner ring remains raw and hand-hammered to provides a warm dry wash, whilst the outer ring is lathed to a brilliant finish, providing a crisp sound with hi-def clarity. The overall sound of the entire cymbal is brilliantly pulled together by bold, sporadically positioned hand-hammered dimples, which smooths out the contrast. This cymbal generates a sound typical of the Byzance series - dark and dry, with a full-bodied, earthiness - but this crash opens up with an explosive, trashy sound that falls away quickly and cleanly.

Due to the contrast in sounds that these dual playing surfaces create, the Byzance Extra Dry 16” Crash has a very dynamic range, which means it is perfect to use as a light ride. And of course, the mixture of both bright and dark can create some magical musical complexity.
