The Rathbone No. 2 Sitka Spruce/Mahogany Relic is a gorgeous acoustic guitar with a sublime mellow tone. Its comfortable 'Orchestra Model' body shape is extremely popular due to its ergonomic contours and smaller frame and its sonic blend of Sitka Spruce and Mahogany.

As alluded to by its name, the Orchestra Model body shape was originally designed for musicians in dancehall ensembles and made compact so in order to fit into crammed theatre pits. Due to its smaller size and comfortable shape, this design proved very popular with musicians and has been adapted over the years into what we have here; the neck of this guitar joins the body at the 14th fret, so although considered smaller, still offers a dynamic long-scale neck which helps enhance its power, tonal response and punchy attack. 

The Rathbone R2VSM features a solid Sitka Spruce top with a Mahogany back and sides that combine to make a warm, mellow tone with a sweet musical lilt. The benefits of this tonewood combo doesn't stop there - the deep red Mahogany grain and warm orange Spruce creates a beautiful visual contrast which is fused together by a subtle ’relicing’ effect that gives the guitar a worn-in vibe and traditional binding.

A Mahogany neck and Rosewood fretboard and bridge combo complete the R2VSM’s exceptional tonal balance.
