Part of Tanglewood’s Crossroads Series, the TWCR D Acoustic Guitar is rich in tone, incredibly evenly balanced, and engineered to an outstanding quality. Cutting to the chase, you’d pushed to find a guitar that plays and sounds at this level, but at similar price. The inspiration behind Tanglewood’s Crossroads Series is 1930s America, recognising that despite great advances in guitar manufacturing and design, too often the traditional, ultimate quality of a guitar is lacking. The first quality that Tanglewood recognised was that these guitars had to be built to last. In modern days, when guitars are only a fraction of what they used to cost, this value is often overlooked, and so the Tanglewood Crossroads TWCR D has been built to survive hours, days, months and years of playing. The TWCR D has been meticulously designed. Enlisting the help of Michael Sanden, a design specialist from Sweden, every wood has been carefully hand-selected for both its individual qualities, and how it reacts with the rest of the tonewoods used for the guitar. This makes for a beautiful sound, which plays at such a level, there’s no way it could happen by chance. The top, back, sides and neck are all mahogany, which has great projection, a slightly deep tone and a smooth resonance. The hardware too is clearly carefully selected, with the machine heads, saddle and ABS nuts all being of the highest quality. Finished off with an autumnal Whiskey Barrel finish, this guitar looks the real deal, while screaming of the traditional values of 1930s America.
