Solid State amplifiers used to be scoffed at in the guitar world. Often considered to be sterile with a buzzy distortion they never really gained a significant fan base with guitarists.

Enter Pat Quilter, the legendary engineer behind QSC PA equipment. When Pat retired from QSC he decided to return to his love of guitar amplifiers and we’re thankful he did!

Quilter amps have a warm, rich tone that is able to mimic the sound and feel of a tube amplifier despite being solid state. They achieve this without any kind of digital amp modelling. The interaction between an amplifier and the speakers it’s attached to is a huge part of the sound and Quilter have replicated the voltage spikes that occur in tube amps which allows the speakers to sing. Quilter really has done something special here.

If, like many of us here at Wembley Music Centre, you’re a pedal nerd and are looking for an amplifier that you can use as a platform for a pedal based rig, look no further. The Quilter Minis and Tone Blocks meet that challenge and then some. Whether it’s distortion, drive or fuzz, the Quilter loves them all. Most models also have a built-in effects loop for your time-based effects and reverbs. This versatility allows you to really build a sound all your own.

We are definitely Quilter mad here at Wembley Music Centre with many of us using them daily as our main amplifiers. They are ideal for low volume home practice or tearing up the stage with a full band.

Lightweight, affordable and killer sound, what’s not to love?!
